Some of my favourites, and some new discoveries!!
This is a listing of stones and crystals I have discovered on my journey of self-discovery. They each have their own unique Energy, which I have experienced as I have handled them. I have included most of these in my handmade jewelry. Some of these are totally new to me (ie- for letters “V” and “Y”), since I did not know what to put for those letters. And in my quest, I couldn’t find one for “X” — so I added a little notation for “X-Ray Protection” (or something like that) along with the stone that is geared towards it.
I have made a quick listing just below this paragraph, as these are the 26 “A-Z” Stones & Crystals I have chosen for this article. It was tough, choosing only these 26, and only one for each letter! Have Fun — and enjoy the discovery!

Prized for it’s beauty and legendary energies, it is one of the “go-to” crystals for just about everything.
- Energy/Healing: Protection, purification, Divine connection, release of addictions.
- Colour: Violet/Purple
- Chakras: Third Eye/Brow (6th), Crown (7th), Etheric (8th & Beyond- above the head)
- Element: Wind
- Zodiac/Birthstone: Aquarius/February
In Ancient times, special magical powers were attributed to this stone. It is an excellent energy cleanser and immune stimulator-physically and spiritually.
- Energy/Healing: Strength, courage, purification, vitality
- Colour: Dark Green with red spots
- Chakras: Root (1st), Sacral (2nd), Heart (4th)
- Element: Earth
- Zodiac/Birthstone: Aries
Citrine
This cheerful crystal is a “happy stone” – it re-energizes and cleanses all the other stones around it! Bright and happy, it cheers it’s surroundings and makes a “dull day” Delightful!

Dumortierite
I love the deep blue in this stone — such depth when looked up close. It reminds me of the Cosmos, and the wisdom hidden therein.
Energy/Healing: Divine Inspiration, inner guidance, mental discipline
- Colour: Deep Blue to Violet
- Chakras: Throat & Brow
- Element: Wind
- Zodiac/Birthstone: Leo & Aquarius
Emerald
Although I do not currently have any Emerald in stock at MixedElementals, the Raw form is easier (and less costly) than the Gem quality. The Raw is often used in wire wrap designs and makes an interesting conversation piece!
Energy/Healing: Love, compassion, healing, abundance
- Colour: Green
- Chakras: Heart
- Element: Water
- Zodiac/Birthstone: Taurus
Fluorite
I call this the “beach-bomber” crystal. It’s so much fun, has such a positive energy to it, and the colours are so intriguing! The “Mental Clarity” Crystal!
- Energy/Healing: Mental enhancement and clarity, improved decision making, clears energy fields
- Colour: clear blue/purple/green
- Chakras: Throat & Brow
- Element: Wind
- Zodiac/Birthstone: Pisces
Garnet
This one is a winner for me – although I am biased as it is my Birthstone! I love the deep dark reds of the most common type pictured above. The tumbled garnets have gorgeous variations and depth!
- Energy/Healing: Emotional Healing, self-worth, spiritual enlightenment, strength, security
- Colour: Deep Red (garnets do come in other colours such as green and black)
- Chakras: Root (Red); Heart (Green)
- Element: Earth, Fire
- Zodiac/Birthstone: Aquarius/January
This is a new discovery within the last year or so. I absolutely LOVE the banding and flash of this stone. I am partial to the darker ‘gunmetal’ grey as well. And the name — so cool!
- Energy/Healing: Self-knowledge, self-healing through visualization, accepting one’s own “shadow”. Boost psychic gifts and clairvoyance, manifestation.
- Colour: Black with silvery/grey flashes/bands
- Chakras: Root & Solar Plexus, Third Eye/Brow
- Element: Wind
- Zodiac/Birthstone: Sagittarius & Capricorn
Iolite (Water Sapphire
Now, what was I going to use for the letter “I”? Iolite!! This is a new discovery in the last year or so at some of the Gem & Mineral shows I’ve been to, and I HAVE to get me some of these!! A stone for shamanic journeying, it has been used for inner vision and reflection.
- Energy/Healing: Inner vision, shamanic journeying, healing old wounds, soul retrieval
- Colour: violet, gray, blue, translucent colour changes with angle of view
- Chakras: Throat &Third Eye (brow)
- Element: Wind
- Zodiac/Birthstone: Cancer
Jet
As strong as the name implies, this is a masculine stone, providing strength and balance to the Devine Feminine.
- Energy/Healing: Protection, purification, grounding
- Colour: Black
- Chakras: Root (for grounding); All (for purification)
- Element: Earth
- Zodiac/Birthstone: Capricorn
Kyanite
A great stone for communicating with one’s own Higher Self for inspirational wisdom and to align the energies in your auric field. Excellent for aligning while practicing Reiki on one’s self. Or for meditation. A wonderful stone for someone going through some changes.
- Energy/Healing: promote mobility both physical & spiritual, tranquility, attunement & meditation
- Colour: blue (most common)
- Chakras: All -especially Third Eye & Heart
- Element: Storm
- Zodiac/Birthstone:Pisces
Sacred to Peel, the Hawaiian goddess of volcanoes, fire and magic. Because of it’s porous nature, essential oils are often rubbed into the lava stone to create aromatherapeutic healing as well as the natural healing properties of this stone.
- Energy/Healing: (without oils)- increased vitality for those stuck in lethargy- creates energy, contains irritability
- Colour: Black (most common)
- Chakras: Solar Plexus
- Element: Fire
- Zodiac/Birthstone: Aries & Scorpio
The Crystal of the Warrior – in Love and Life. Connection to Nature, Spiritual Earth History, and Kundalini Awakening
- Energy/Healing: overcomes bullying, overcomes crippling fears, allows you to say “no” without guilt. Release fear of change, clearing blocked energy centres
- Colour: light green
- Chakras: All (especially Heart)
- Element: Earth
- Zodiac/Birthstone: Gemini & Scorpio
It’s deep black colour is most common, and worn by both men and women alike, drawing from the strength this stone provides.
- Energy/Healing: assists in mourning and grief, healing past life trauma, protection, and balances yin and yang
- Colour: Deep Black
- Chakras: Root
- Element: Earth
- Zodiac/Birthstone: Leo
Prehnite
Regarded as a stone of Prophecy and Shamanism by indigenous sangomas, medicine men and women in South Africa. Prehnite was one of my first “new discoveries” when I began this journey of healing crystals. I just loved the little intrusions within the pale green!
- Energy/Healing: Inner peace, union of heart and will, stone of prediction, calms hyperactive children
- Colour: pale green/yellow green
- Chakras: Heart, Crown, Third Eye/Brow, Solar Plexus
- Element: Earth
- Zodiac/Birthstone: Virgo
Like the smoke of sage, the energy clears and cleanses the aura within and around you.
- Energy/Healing: a premier grounding, cleansing, protection stone. *Note: since this stone uses itself to cleanse and draw negativity from you, it is best to energetically cleanse it regularly via smudging with Sage or Incense.
- Colour: pale brown to chocolate brown/transparent
- Chakras: Root
- Element: Earth
- Zodiac/Birthstone: Capricorn
Rose Quartz
The pale beauty of a rose, embodying love and compassion within a single crystal.
- Energy/Healing: compassion, love, friendship, healing gaps in relations, emotional healing
- Colour: pale pink
- Chakras: Heart
- Element: Water
- Zodiac/Birthstone: Taurus
Believed to be almost 2 billion years old, it is the Stone of Life, the Stone of Transformation. One of the best for physical and spiritual healing. Regenerates and reenergizes cells and spirit. This stone is good for —- EVERYTHING!
- Energy/Healing: protection, balance, cell regeneration, boost energy, normalizes sleep, raises vibration. Also claims to purify water. **This stone should also be routinely cleansed by having it sit in the sun to recharge.
- Colour: black
- Chakras: All
- Element: Fire, Wind, Storm
- Zodiac/Birthstone: Cancer
Mother Earth’s goodness stone. I love the flecks of pinks within the green. This is such a natural looking stone, I couldn’t help but fall in love with it. It reminds me of my walks on the beach as a kid, collecting buckets of rocks!!
- Energy/Healing: Healing, balance, release bad habits, higher attunement, patient persistence
- Colour: greens and pinks, flecked
- Chakras: All, especially Heart
- Element: Earth
- Zodiac/Birthstone: Scorpio
Variscite
(rare, not stocked at MixedElementals)
Bringing the Light Body into alignment with the Physical Self. This is a brand new discovery for me – as I was not aware at the time of writing this article of any stones or crystals starting with “V”. I found this one! Intriguing, to say the least! It almost looks like Turquoise!

X-Ray/EMF Protection (Stone)
— Since I couldn’t find a stone or crystal beginning in “X”, I decided to list one that gives protection from something starting in “X” instead! So this stone is:
-Pyrite
Pyrite’s shiny yellow metallic appearance has earned it the nickname ‘fool’s gold’, and the Ancient Incas used it’s shiny surface as mirrors!
- Energy/Healing: protection, confidence, action, manifestation, protection from electromagnetic and EMF rays (computer, phone, x-ray)
- Colour: metallic yellow/silver/gold
- Chakras: Solar Plexus
- Element: Earth
- Zodiac/Birthstone: Aries
Yuksporite
(rare, not stocked at MixedElementals)
Finding a crystal or stone that started with a “Y” was more difficult than I thought – so I hit Google and found this rather interesting specimen! It is a rare inosilicate mineral with one of the most complicated chemicals formula in the mineral kingdom. I suppose the only place to find this would be either on-line, or at one of the bigger Gem & Mineral Shows. I know it will be on my list – even if I get it as a ‘specimen’ and not something to work into my jewelry.

- Colour: light brown to pink
- Chakras: Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus
- Element: Earth
- Zodiac/Birthstone: unknown
Zoisite (with Ruby inclusions)
A beautiful combination of red Ruby crystals in green Zoisite, merging the energies of Fire & Earth, Passion and Patience. An all around balancing and acceptance stone. I LOVE this one!! And I do have plenty of the round and facetted stones beads in stock!
- Energy/Healing: acceptance of one’s own sexuality, awakening true self, healing
- Colour: green with dark pink/red
- Chakras: Crown, Heart, & Solar Plexus
- Element: Storm
- Zodiac/Birthstone: Aries & Taurus
